After decades of perseverance to create economic opportunity on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota through growing industrial hemp, Lakota entrepreneur Alex White Plume is seeing the fruits of his labor — through a partnership with Evo Hemp.
“I live in the poorest community and the poorest county in America today. I was desperate to bring some type of economic development in, where we could use the land without destroying the land,” White Plume previously told Native Business Magazine for our print article “Hemp Warrior,” published in the November 2018 “Entrepreneurship” issue of Native Business Magazine. Today, White Plume’s partnership with Evo Hemp is providing jobs for his family and an increasing number of Lakota members who White Plume hires during hemp harvest season and beyond. “I’m having an impact on my community,” White Plume told Native Business in November.
The Boulder, Colorado-based Evo Hemp is known for its line of Hemp Bars sold in more than 3,000 retailers, including Whole Foods Markets and Kroger. White Plume provides the organic, cannabinoid-rich hemp flower for various Evo Hemp products — including their co-branded HempX Extract and HempX Capsules, sold on EvoHemp.com, Walmart.com, and on the shelves of dozens of retailers across the country.
Most recently, Evo Hemp announced an expansion of offerings created with White Plume’s organic hemp. Evo Hemp will introduce a CBD-infused body care line, as well as a new line of CBD-infused food products, at the Natural Products Expo West.
The expo runs March 5-9, 2019 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. (The Evo Hemp team will exhibit at booth No. 5452.)
The CBD-infused body care line consists of creams, balms, roll-ons and lip balms — all containing Evo Hemp’s Indigenous Botanical Blend of organically-grown hemp extract cultivated on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Evo Hemp’s new CBD-infused food products include hemp hearts, hemp protein, nutrient-dense hemp seed oil, hemp bars, and more. Each product provides the nutritional benefits of hemp seeds with 15 mg of full-spectrum hemp extract per serving.
These innovative hemp products contain Native American hemp extract grown by Alex White Plume.
“We wanted to make CBD body care products that would be both affordable and effective while benefiting indigenous cultures here in North America,” said Evo Hemp CEO and Co-Founder Jourdan Samel.
Evo Hemp hemp extract — produced by the people of the Pine Ridge Reservation — will also be utilized in Evo Hemp’s new brand partnership initiative with Honeydrop Lemonade, The Feels Carob Bites, Forest Cold Brew Coffee, and Defiance Fuel Water. The products are created through Evo Hemp Lab’s proprietary technology for producing water soluble, full-spectrum hemp extracts in a liquid and powder form.
“The focus of this project is to combine our indigenous hemp extracts with our favorite products and brands, utilizing our proprietary Evo Hemp Infusion Technology,” said Sherman. “This will help grow our mission of providing high paying agricultural jobs to Native American Tribes.”
