Ernie Stevens, Jr. Receives ICE Landmark Award for Industry Contributions

Ernie Stevens, Jr., Chairman and national spokesperson for the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA), has long been an advocate for making Tribal gaming an integral part of the global gaming landscape. Representing NIGA and its member Tribes, Stevens actively participates in the world’s largest global casino industry tradeshows and events, including ICE Totally Gaming in London.

Recently, Stevens became the first recipient of an ICE Landmark award, bestowed when he attended the world’s biggest gaming technology event as the guest of organizers, Clarion Gaming.

Clarion Gaming’s Managing Director Kate Chambers presented Stevens with the Landmark Award in recognition of his enormous contributions. Her speech highlighted the positive impacts of Indian gaming, in addition to drawing attention to Stevens’ support for the development of the ICE brand, including the launch of ICE North America. The second edition of ICE North America takes place across May 13-14 in New Orleans.

Chambers said: “Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. has worked with great commitment, dedication and professionalism to educate and raise awareness of Indian gaming. During his period of office, Indian gaming revenues have risen over $39.1 billion, making Tribal government gaming the largest segment of the industry in the United States. On a more personal note, he has been a source of great inspiration to myself and the team responsible for developing the ICE brand. The insight, kindness and support he has shown over the last decade have been greatly appreciated and I am absolutely delighted to present Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. with this ICE Landmark Award.”

Chambers put the purpose of the Landmark Awards into perspective: “ICE London provides the perfect platform to celebrate all things that are positive about the industry. It has served as the backdrop to so many success stories, whether it’s the launch of products or services that have literally transformed the way the industry does business, to landmark anniversaries and outstanding contributions to the development and profile of the industry. There’s no doubt that Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. is a very worthy recipient.”

Chairman Stevens commented on the honor: “I am very honored to be recognized on the international platform of gaming. This is a recognition I accept on behalf of the tribal leaders who I represent. As the chief spokesperson of the National Indian Gaming Association, I take my direction from the leadership and commitment of the tribal leaders throughout Indian country who work every day towards social and economic prosperity for tribal communities and their citizens.” Stevens added, “Tribal government gaming has been vital to achieving so much for tribal communities and beyond. As an industry, we are proud of the fact our professionals in the gaming properties are now the experts on gaming worldwide. They will be the force that will lead the next generation of the gaming industry for our next seven generations.”

ICE North America marks the only free exhibition and conference to showcase the full spectrum of commercial and Tribal gaming innovation — including sports betting, casino, hospitality technology, lottery, esports and affiliate marketing — and to provide free practical and strategic sessions accessible for all land-based and online gaming professionals.
