It may have been a bleak year for casino revenue worldwide, but it hasn’t tarnished the well-deserved praise for one Tribal destination in New York State.

Casino Player Magazine recently named Turning Stone Resort Casino the Best Overall Gaming Resort in New York, and awarded it a total of 27 Best of Gaming Awards for 2020.

“We’re able to earn these accolades — and a record high of 27 Best of Gaming Awards this year — because of our hard-working and dedicated employees,” Oneida Nation Enterprises said in an announcement. “This is truly an accomplishment that recognizes our entire organization. Congratulations to everyone on our team!”

Award-winners are chosen by casino visitors. Turning Stone placed first in the following 17 categories:

  • Best Overall Gaming Resort
  • Best Hotel
  • Best Suites
  • Best Pool
  • Best Spa
  • Best Golf Course
  • Favorite Casino Resort for Vacation
  • Best Casino
  • Best Table Games
  • Best Table Game Tournament
  • Best Poker Tournament
  • Best Video Poker
  • Best Live Poker
  • Best Blackjack
  • Best Bingo
  • Best Sports Book Promotions
  • Friendliest Sports Book

This is the fifth straight year that Casino Player Magazine has named Turning Stone the Best Overall Gaming Resort in New York.

“Being named New York’s #1 Best Overall Gaming Resort is a tremendous honor, and we are grateful to our guests and dedicated employees for helping us stay on top,” said Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter in a press release. “This award is not something earned overnight — instead it is achieved through consistent dedication to exceptional guest service and providing the very best experience possible. As we continue to adapt to the current environment, our commitment to these award-winning ideals will not waiver.”

The magazine isn’t the only authority to recognize Turning Stone though; Forbes Travel Guide awarded the resort with four of its Four star awards, and AAA awarded three Four Diamond Awards to Turning Stone. Finally, TS Steakhouse, Wildflowers, and Pino Bianco received Wine Spectator’s Awards of Excellence.

In all, the Nation’s businesses include Turning Stone Resort Casino, Yellow Brick Road Casino, Point Place Casino, the Maple Leaf Market & SāvOn chain of convenience stores, Oneida Technical Solutions, Oneida Heritage Sales & Rentals, a hunting preserve, fishing lodge and three Marinas.

In early 2019, the Oneida Indian Nation partnered with Caesars Entertainment to develop The Lounge with Caesars Sports at its three New York casinos. After debuting The Lounge with Caesars Sports at Turning Stone Resort Casino and Point Place Casino in New York on August 1, 2019, the Tribe opened its third sportsbook and New York State’s largest sportsbook at nearly 9,000-square feet: The Lounge with Caesars Sports at Yellow Brick Road Casino, designed to accommodate more than 250 sports fans. The third sportsbook venue started taking bets in September 2019, just in time for last year’s NFL season opener.

Fortunately for sports betting websites and venues everywhere, the NFL is back (as of September 10), and that means a potential revenue surge for Tribes, whose casinos continue to operate at limited capacity to adhere to covid-19 safety restrictions.
